Documents required

  • Passport
  • GMAT/GRE/CAT score
  • IELTS/TOEFL (optional)
  • One motivation letter
  • 2 LORs (specific format or open-ended)
  • Resume/CV
  • Application-based questions about activities
  • 3 essays of varying word limits, plus one scholarship essay

Essays

The four essays are comprehensive and aim to assess the candidate's fit:

  1. Give a frank description of yourself, stressing your strengths and weaknesses and the main experiences that have had an impact on your personal development, with examples.
  2. What matters most to you and why?
  3. Elaborate on your short and long term career goals and how ESMT's Masters in Management program will help you achieve them.
  4. Name the scholarship program you are applying for and explain why you qualify for it. If no specific scholarship program is mentioned, your request will not be considered.

Referral form

ESMT allows you to upload an already prepared, open-format recommendation letter. Alternatively, you provide the names of 2 recommenders and ESMT sends them an online form asking about your most noteworthy qualities, major weaknesses and efforts to improve them, potential for international management, behaviour in a team environment, and first-hand situations that illustrate your sense of purpose and maturity. It may also ask them to rate you on a percentile scale.

The interview round

After approximately a week you should get an invite for the video interview conducted by the ESMT admissions team. Research the course modules and USPs of ESMT well. Common questions include:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why do you want to pursue Masters in Management?
  • Why do you want to study at ESMT?
  • Why do you think you are a good fit for ESMT?
  • Do you know about the social impact project in the course?
  • Have you looked at any specific tracks at ESMT?
  • What are your career goals after ESMT?
  • Do you have any questions for me?
